$515 million Haughton River Floodplain Upgrade project
The $515 million Haughton River Floodplain Upgrade project will upgrade a 14km section of highway across the floodplain, between Ayr and Townsville, including replacement of the narrow Haughton River Bridge.
The existing ageing, low-level bridges at Horseshoe Lagoon and Pink Lily Lagoon and the floodway at Reed Beds will also be replaced. Safety will be significantly improved, with the upgrade of nine rural intersections and the construction of two new cane-tramway overpasses.
Marissa Wise, District Director (Northern) from the Department of Transport and Main Roads, will provide an update on accessing work opportunities on this highly anticipated project for the region.
$250 million North Queensland Stadium Project
The $250 million North Queensland Stadium project will deliver an iconic 25,000 capacity stadium in Townsville in time for the 2020 NRL season. An update will be provided about the progress of the project to date.
$35 million Agripower Fertiliser Plant Upgrade
Agripower is set to commence a $35 million plant upgrade to its Charters Towers fertiliser operation to increase its commercial production capacity.
The upgrade begins a $400 million investment boost over the next five years to increase production at the facility to several million tonnes per year.
